Rebate Overview

The NSW Government has announced a new battery rebate program for homeowners and small businesses under the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS), which begins on November 1, 2024.

This initiative is designed to make energy storage more affordable while enhancing grid stability.

There are two key components within the program:

BESS1: Covers new battery installations.

BESS2: Focuses on connecting batteries (either new or existing) to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP).

NSW Battery Rebate Criteria

The rebate program applies to batteries that meet specific criteria. The FranklinWH battery energy storage system (BESS) meets all eligibility requirements for the NSW rebate. Contact your installers to unlock the rebate!

Eligibility of
step-1

Battery listed on the approved product list specified by the Program Administrator.

The FranklinWH battery is listed on the Clean Energy Council's approved battery list.

step-2

Usable battery capacity from 2kWh to 28 kWh.

Install up to 2 FranklinWH batteries per site for a total capacity of 27.2 kWh to maximize savings (must be listed in the same application at the same time)

step-3

Must be internet-connectable and controllable by a Demand Response Aggregator.

The FranklinWH Power X-01-AU is listed on the AEMO Register and can be connected to and controlled by a VPP.

step-4

Must have a 10-year warranty and retain at least 70% usable battery capacity by warranty end.

The FranklinWH aPower X battery has a 12-year warranty (throughput of 43MWh) and a capacity retention no less than 70% when the 12-year period expires.

step-5

Must function within an ambient temperature range of -10 °C to 50 °C for both charging & discharging.

FranklinWH batteries are rated for use from -20°C to 50°C.

How Many PRCs are Created?
